DIDACTIC SEQUENCE ONE: 1.1 who are you?

UNIT ONE: Changing the World



 

Objective: The student will be able to talk about  him and other people’s personal information, what he and other people do and are doing according to his professional field of job or study.

20  hours.


1.1   Who are you? (20 hours)

1.1.1         Personal Information

Teach first name, middle initial and last name, full name.

 1) Make questions.

What´s your first name?

What´s your middle initial?

What is your last name?

What´s your full name?

a2) Write the alphabet

How do you spell your first name?

How do you spell your last name?

Dynamic: At an International Congress. Bring weird last names from other countries. Give one to each student. They stand up and ask the names each other. They take notes.

Example:

A: Hi, my name is…. What´s your name?

B: My name is ……

A: Pardon me? Could you spell your name, please?

                          How do you spell your last name?

B: A-B-…..

A: oh, thanks.  Nice to meet you.

B: Nice to meet you, too.

 

Sex, marital status, State/province, Country/Region

Where are you from?

What’s your marital status? (Dynamic: Teacher asks a student A. Students A answers teacher's questions, then Student A  asks the same question to student B, and so on.


Numbers. Practice numbers from 1 to 1000

For introducing a student to start counting, ask him to stop and ask a second to go on, then a third, then a fourth, and so on.

Explain by using math frame

Bring 15 numbers. Dynamic: Give me a number. Teacher say a number and find the person in the list, then that person say a number from 1 to 21, except (the one the teacher mentioned), and so on. 

Set on the board: age, address, email address, Postal code/ Zip code, date of birth

Questions: How old are you?

                     What’s your address?

                      What’s your email address?

                     What’s your zip code?

1.1.1 Fill a VISA application form

Show one or two examples. Then ask students to fill in one format by their own (Only the main information).

 Getting a register for a club: Set three chairs at the front and call the assistants. They should make the questions to their classmates to get them registered.

A: Hi, What´s your name?

B: My name is …..

A: How old are you…?

B: I am…..

A: Where are you from?

B: I am from….

A: What is your address?

B: My address is……

A: What is your e-mail address?

Variation: In pairs students will make a conversation about their personal information by standing at the front of the class.
